This is a Great example of something
I don't want to run into
and a good reason to stay an indoor cat.

Black Panther in this case is a Jaguar
with too much melanin.
You can still see the pattern under the dark tone.

There are other black panthers (large black cats) too.
Some are leopards, some can even be bobcats, etc.
It's just more common that it's either a jaguar or a leopard.

  2. What a pretty leopard! Yeah, it's interesting that several kinds of cats can be "panthers" as a variation. I didn't know that until I became an adult. You'll be an adult too someday, Hans. You're already getting really smart.

Probably better stay away from this guy. I saw a show on TV that said that jaguars have the most biting power for their weight of any cat. Tigers have more, but only a little, and only because they're so much bigger. Jaguars can grab capybaras, those huge rodents in South America (the largest rodent alive, actually) by the next and haul them up a tree to get them away from other predators. And the capybaras are about the same weight as them! That's pretty strong!

Thanks for all the neat posts, Hans!
