Hans In Repose

Two Photos, nearly the same:  I am now 18 months old.
Do I look genteel enough for Miss Chanel?

Bigger Girl: Coco Chanel

Here is my latest photo shoot.
I'm wearing Buff with Dark Cocoa accents.  It's all the rage this season.

New Photos from Coco

Hi People - I love Mama's computer and I'm glad to share Hans' Blog - he doesn't mind.
I like to have my picture taken - I try to stay still - sometimes it's just impossible - I want to run and jump on Hans and bite his ears...he likes it!

Here we are snuggled up - I love Hans' fur and could sleep on it all day.

This one makes me look as big as Hans!!
Hans likes to sleep, but I get him playing!
Right now I'm giving him a break.

Bigger Boy Hans

Hello!  I'm about 13 lbs but I look bigger,
I have a lot of soft hair like a bunny
 from what I've been told.
I know 2 cats, 3 dogs, and 5 fish,
and a variety of humans.

Here's my girl, Coco Chanel,
but I think she's a Coco Nut!
She's growing a little bit every day.
I think Mama woke her out of her beauty sleep
with the Click sound - she doesn't look too happy.

1959ish - new pet in town

 Mama in the hood, Giraffaroo,
 Gramps, and Ronnie
between house and garage.
Giraffaroo seems happy,
though he's made out of cardboard.
He should see the Wizard of OZ
for new skin and fur
and maybe a pair of Underoos!

Boy Cat meets Elf Girl

We just met in the ancient oak tree.
She's Yvanna and she's a Elf.  I thought she was a people,
but she told me she wasn't though she looked the same.
The difference was her skin color ~ mossy green.
Another was her ears ~ like a lynx.
Her eyes were greener than any green I had ever seen.
She spoke in a whisper and she likes to hide,
so she's good at playing games.
I think I'm in love, but I'm suddenly shy.

Hi this is Coco writing

Hans is letting me share his Blog until I get older.  I wanted to show how I've grown a little.  Mama is holding me carefully.  I love my life, so I just wanted to say that and to say Hello out There - anybody home?  I heard about Justin, Jackson, Dennis, and TMM.  I heard about Bill and trains.  I heard about Heath and Lucas.  Are these Peoples or Kitties?  Maybe dogs?  I know one dog - she lives with me and Hans.  She's ok if I don't pester her.  She hates to be pestered.  Here is my photo now - I was only 8 weeks old, I'm now 9.

Autumnal Equinox

Autumn started yesterday, Sept 23, 2010.  I don't understand but it's beautiful to look outside and see leaves turning colors - it's a new show everyday and some leaves are starting to fall to the ground.  People, and cats too, step on the leaves, they crunch and make pictures on the sidewalk.  Here's what autumn looks like in the forest:

German Moon

Mama's friend in Germany's Mosel Valley took this photo - he wasn't happy with it, so Mama made the moon shine - get it Moonshine!!  I know what that stuff is because I watch  The Beverly Hillbillies.  The moon is not made of cheese either - it was put into the sky to shine in the night and keep us from falling off fences and to see little mice running around. I like the moon, especially when it's big and bright.

The Two of Us

Soon Coco and I became friends.  She likes to play, yippee, and she also likes to snuggle.  I love her very much...xxxxx

Something NEW

The other day, a box came into the house.  It had scratchy noises inside.  I was curious of course, but the box went into a room I couldn't enter.  I heard my mom talking in her high voice - not the one she uses when I'm doing something naughty.  Not like "NO, Hansel" - more like "oooo, you sweet little puff ball and stuff like that."  Later I discovered she really was talking to a puff ball.  She was holding it and carrying it around.  She showed me the puffy thing - I was a bit confused.  No noise came from the fluffy thing, but somehow I knew she was a new toy for me.  It walked and ran and hid.  I suppose it was a new game.  I played along.  Sometimes it would come over real close and I couldn't help but hiss and back off.  It was all so new and nothing I had experienced before.  That night, Mama, Marie, me, and my new toy slept in one room.  I hissed for a while, but by morning, I figured it all out.  My fluffy toy was a miniature ME.  I licked her ears, back, and tail.  I just had to lay my paw on her back and she was all mine.  She sometimes made a little squeal and started playing the hiding game again, but then she would come back.  I think she liked me.  It's been 3 days now and she has a name now.  She's Coco.  Mama says she's courageous like Coco Chanel and sweet as cocoa.  I like her so much and hope she keeps playing games.  I was getting a little tired of playing ball.  I have a playmate!!  So that's what's new - Coco, my girlfriend.

A dog named Blue

Here's "Blue" looking like he's in shock - has he never seen a tweet tweet before?
He's another new friend that I met through Saki, the crazy cat.
Blue is an actor, so maybe he's acting like he's scared because the bird is a zombie.
Animal movies are best appreciated by cool cats lazing around on sofas.
Hey Saki, pass me some more catnip, will ya?

Direct from the Cowlands

Mosey on over and meet Bubba and boo-boo.  I was out in the meadow today and these guys just moseyed on by without saying hi.  I said hello Sock Cows real loud.  They had to look way down in the grass to see me.  I was wearing grass camouflage, so they could barely tell I was there.  Then they saw my blue eyes....well now we're all buddies and they plan to come over later to talk about where to find the best alfalfa - I think they should look for the Little Rascals!!  I don't imagine they'll understand my joke, so we'll just play cards or shoot the bull and then run like rabbits!!

Meet Fidoella

My girl sock dog friend is cute and nice to me.
We were pen pals until I sent her a photo of my rainbow face,
then we had to meet, she said.
She likes all colors of the rainbow and me too!!
Meowww!!

Sock Friends

This is my new friend Saki.  He's a little odd.
He can't get hurt so he's always doing dangerous things that make me nervous.
Sometimes he just bounces from wall to wall to floor to ceiling then back on the sofa
like it's no big deal.....it drives me crazy (I wish I could do it!).

Holland Lop

Also known as a Mini Lop and full grown are about 3 lbs.  This bunny is the cutest I've seen and looks like it came straight out of a Disney movie.   I want one!!!!!!  What's a good name for this little girl or guy?

Only one flavor?

Now I don't know about you, but this girl is either rude or freaking out that someone will eat her head.
I'm not even tempted to eat pink ice cream, but the cone looks pretty good!

Checkered Giant

Known as the Giant Papillon in the UK.  This is a show rabbit, not for eating.  Eating rabbits?  I'm not as innocent as I once was.  I learning too much!  So I'm glad this guy is not going to be eaten.  They get to be about 11 lbs so I could probably kick his "cottontail" but he might Thump me to death - better to be friends.  I'll be 18 lbs, but he'll have much stronger legs than I ever will, even though I'm still practicing "thumping" anytime I can.  I have sharp teeth too, so maybe this "Papillon" rabbit would just flutter away when I went in for a chomp!

Rare cat!??

Could somebody please explain this cat to me.  I keep feeling as far as I can reach, but I can't feel another head on top of mine.  Is this normal or am I?

Leporidae, post 1

A.K.A. Rabbits!!  I like rabbits even though I don't know any.  I like them because they're cute and my hair is like their hair.  "OH, Hans has bunny hair" - I heard that and got curious like all cats tend to do.  It's good though, because otherwise I'd just be lying around the house sleeping all the time.

So here's the first rabbit I want to share.  He or she - I don't know but I suppose someone could just ask.  For now I'll call this one He and I'll name him Gigantus Peterus Rabbitus.  He's bigger than me and looks much heavier.  I don't know what kind of rabbit he is.  I did find out there isn't just one kind of rabbit.  We have rabbits in a glass cabinet.  They never move, so I'm sure that they aren't real.  If I say Hello, they don't say anything at all.  They don't look like this big guy.  My next post will be about them.  In the meantime I'll try to find this guy's real name and what the heck he eats!  I'm not too worried - they do not eat meat (which means Me and my family).  I'm guessing he eats humongous turnips and cabbages from Uncle Wiggly's farm.  Good luck Peterus - get out before the gate shuts!!

For a comparison:  my head is smaller than that guys' head.

The rare Bowie cat

Spaced Oddity!!

Sokokis and Singapura cats

Sokokis Forest Cats from Kenya - those 3 might be looking for me, but the one right above found me!!

Here's another choice - a beautiful Singapura.      Hooah!! If she gets cold, I will snuggle her.  Poor little girl - no fluff!   Oh, now she's flirting - well gotta go for now.  This Katzenjammer Kid has to make his move now.

I want one!

By Katy Rank Lev
If you thought the world’s fastest animal was a cheetah, you’d be mistaken. If you thought the strongest animal was the elephant, you’d also be wrong. A tiny critter called a copepod is the best jumper and the fastest, strongest multicellular animal known to man. According to an article on Discovery News, the copepod (which measures about 1 millimeter in length) can demonstrate some amazing feats when fleeing its predators.
With an acceleration speed of 500 body-lengths per second, the copepod could make Usain Bolt green with envy as the crustacean zooms away from its underwater attackers. The article reports that, “the tiny leg muscles used to execute such leaps are the most forceful in the world relative to their size.”
The article references a Danish study published in the Journal of the Royal Society Interface, in which lead researcher Thomas Kiørboe studied the two different propulsion systems found on the copepod. Kiørboe and his team threatened the copepods by tapping their aquarium, and then photographed their movements to study the different muscular systems at work. Discovery News reports that, “the researchers think this astounding power is made possible by an optimal design of the swimming legs, copepod musculature and overall body shape.”
The copepod’s efficiency and ability to avoid becoming dinner could be the keys to its abundance — it outnumbers any other multicellular animal on the planet, Kiørboe told Discovery News.
Other scientists are studying the copepod’s jumping mechanisms in hope of replicating the skills in robots for possible space exploration, according to the article, though these researchers would be hard-pressed to duplicate the speed and force of such a streamlined creature. Science Daily reports that the copepod is anywhere from 10 to 30 times more powerful than any animal or machine currently in existence.
The trick behind the speed and strength is in those two separate and differently geared “propulsion mechanisms,” according to Kiørboe and Science Daily. Copepods have vibrating limbs in addition to swimming or jumping legs. These legs are only used occasionally and, thus, avoid fatigue. Kiørboe and his team from the National Institute of Aquatic Resources at the Technical University of Denmark intend to study the propulsion mechanisms and their nerve transmissions to fully understand the most powerful creature alive.

last day of april

Today is the end of April, tomorrow May 1st, her favorite day of the year by far.  April is a fickle month especially this year it seemed to her, but Mayday - "May Flowers wrapped in paper cones to be secretly delivered to neighbors' front doors" is her beginning.  Knowing if she was caught, only smiles would scold her.  Her elm tree now in leaf beckoned her to climb to her hiding place - a green room with air to breathe and thoughts to be contemplated.  There she meditated and looked at a different world from higher up.  This is for Mama on Mayday.

My Birthday (April 17) - I'm a 1 year old now

It's my birthday?

Oh. I've played with those before.

This takes the cake -
hey, where's the cake?
The balloons?
The PRESENTS??
(maybe next year they'll think ahead, sigh)

Flat-headed cat

This is a very rare wild cat.  It's very small and weighs about 3-4 lbs.  It lives in the SE Asia swamps and marshes and has webbed feet so they can swim through the swamps where they live and eat.  They are endangered with only a few thousand left in the world.  A webfooted cat that swims - it would be sad for them to disappear!
