Coco Chanel
Hans, the fur ball, wouldn't look into the camera, but I like to have my picture taken. I'm used to the modeling business and the paparazzi, so I can understand that Hans can be camera shy. Top photo we're checking out Tazbo, Mean Guy, and Creamcicle - that's what we call her. She cute - half orange, half white. Bottom photo is me showing my latest Wave-design coat ~ very popular in Paris this last winter. Now that Spring is here, I'll be designing a similar coat in a lightweight material for those cool evenings in The City. Adieu, Coco

Leprechaun Munchies
Coco and I realize that many of you Kitty Kats out there don't know what a Leprechaun looks like, seeing we ate it already, so if you scroll down....you will see one. They run fast, so catch one if you can. If yer lucky, you'll find one sitting on a Shamrock (like the one in the photo above). Like this guy say, it was "delishus"!!!

Dusty the Cat Burglar
Coco wants to make sure you realize this is not her and she would never even consider such behavior, though she finds it quite interesting. I have noticed that she is stealing little items around the condo and hope it's only a coincidence! She is a little rebel, but this is just too extreme for her. I also know she hasn't traveled to NYC to be on the Letterman Show or Animal Planet.
Love, Hans
A domestic cat with a major case of kleptomania will lead a parade in Redwood City, California (near his hometown of San Mateo) in May. Dusty the cat burglar has become famous for his nocturnal perambulations that net all sorts of pilfered items: socks, shoes, swimsuits, balls, toys, and anything else he is capable of dragging or carrying back to his owner’s home. Many TV news stories have covered his prolific thievery resulting in a new celebrity status. Soon he will be leading the Redwood City 10th Annual Pet Parade, a yearly celebration of animals in the downtown area. It also helps raise money for the Peninsula Humane Society.
Some of the items Dusty stole will be auctioned to raise money for the Humane Society, where Dusty was adopted from. So he is giving back to the organization that cared for him. Dusty is the only literal cat burglar to have appeared on the national news. On any given night Dusty roams his neighborhood looking for things to steal. Sometimes he nabs one or two items, but he has been known to steal as many as a dozen. He has been featured on Animal Planet, and local news stories. He even has appeared on David Letterman for an interview with his owners, Jean Chu and Jim Coleman.
Chu actually documented many of his catches, so she believes he has acquired well over 500 items. One explanation for the kleptomania of cats, which is somewhat common, is that it takes place in urban areas, where they don’t have their hunting instinct fulfilled, so they resort to taking things that are available. The term is misdirected predation. The behavior is considered by some to be incurable, so Dusty may continue stripping the neighborhood of undergarments and toys for years.

The Art of Purring
The phenomenon of purring has fascinated humans for ages. A lot of research has been conducted to figure out this feline mystique, but no one knows for certain why cats purr, though it is believed to be a voluntary act initiated by the central nervous system. In other words, cats purr on purpose, not just as an instinctive response.
Scientists report that cats produce purring sounds by using the diaphragm to push air back and forth across vibrating nerves in the larynx. Purring occurs in a frequency range between 25 and 150 hertz. At the lower end of the range, that rumbling sound can resemble an idling diesel engine, which has a similar velocity.
All domestic cats and most wild felids are are born with the ability to purr. Cats, from young kittens to senior citizens, purr when they are happy, such as when they are being petted, anticipating dinner, or snuggling on a warm, cozy bed. Mother cats purr when nursing their kittens, and kittens purr when nursing.
But many cats also purr when they are afraid or in pain. That helps explain why females may purr during labor and why some cats purr when they are being examined at a veterinary clinic or when they are recovering form an injury. The purring might serve to reassure or comfort the frightened cat, and some studies suggest that the low-level vibrations of purring physically stimulate feline muscles and bones to keep them healthy and actually hasten the healing process.

Ourselves in February 2011
Here we are 2 months later than the last photos. I don't think we look much different, but Coco is getting bigger or I am shrinking. If I took off my coat (which I will never do in public) we are probably closer in size than we look. I look a bit grumpy, but I'm not really. I like the smell of lemons. Coco likes to play with them if they get loose. So without further delay, here is Coco Chanel and me.

Hi People - I love Mama's computer and I'm glad to share Hans' Blog - he doesn't mind.
I like to have my picture taken - I try to stay still - sometimes it's just impossible - I want to run and jump on Hans and bite his ears...he likes it!

Bigger Boy Hans
Hello! I'm about 13 lbs but I look bigger,
I have a lot of soft hair like a bunny
from what I've been told.
I know 2 cats, 3 dogs, and 5 fish,
and a variety of humans.
Here's my girl, Coco Chanel,
but I think she's a Coco Nut!
She's growing a little bit every day.
I think Mama woke her out of her beauty sleep
with the Click sound - she doesn't look too happy.

1959ish - new pet in town
Mama in the hood, Giraffaroo,
Gramps, and Ronnie
between house and garage.
Giraffaroo seems happy,
though he's made out of cardboard.
He should see the Wizard of OZ
for new skin and fur
and maybe a pair of Underoos!

Boy Cat meets Elf Girl
We just met in the ancient oak tree.
She's Yvanna and she's a Elf. I thought she was a people,
but she told me she wasn't though she looked the same.
The difference was her skin color ~ mossy green.
Another was her ears ~ like a lynx.
Her eyes were greener than any green I had ever seen.
She spoke in a whisper and she likes to hide,
so she's good at playing games.
I think I'm in love, but I'm suddenly shy.

Hi this is Coco writing
Hans is letting me share his Blog until I get older. I wanted to show how I've grown a little. Mama is holding me carefully. I love my life, so I just wanted to say that and to say Hello out There - anybody home? I heard about Justin, Jackson, Dennis, and TMM. I heard about Bill and trains. I heard about Heath and Lucas. Are these Peoples or Kitties? Maybe dogs? I know one dog - she lives with me and Hans. She's ok if I don't pester her. She hates to be pestered. Here is my photo now - I was only 8 weeks old, I'm now 9.

Autumnal Equinox
Autumn started yesterday, Sept 23, 2010. I don't understand but it's beautiful to look outside and see leaves turning colors - it's a new show everyday and some leaves are starting to fall to the ground. People, and cats too, step on the leaves, they crunch and make pictures on the sidewalk. Here's what autumn looks like in the forest:
German Moon
Mama's friend in Germany's Mosel Valley took this photo - he wasn't happy with it, so Mama made the moon shine - get it Moonshine!! I know what that stuff is because I watch The Beverly Hillbillies. The moon is not made of cheese either - it was put into the sky to shine in the night and keep us from falling off fences and to see little mice running around. I like the moon, especially when it's big and bright.
The Two of Us
Soon Coco and I became friends. She likes to play, yippee, and she also likes to snuggle. I love her very much...xxxxx

Something NEW
The other day, a box came into the house. It had scratchy noises inside. I was curious of course, but the box went into a room I couldn't enter. I heard my mom talking in her high voice - not the one she uses when I'm doing something naughty. Not like "NO, Hansel" - more like "oooo, you sweet little puff ball and stuff like that." Later I discovered she really was talking to a puff ball. She was holding it and carrying it around. She showed me the puffy thing - I was a bit confused. No noise came from the fluffy thing, but somehow I knew she was a new toy for me. It walked and ran and hid. I suppose it was a new game. I played along. Sometimes it would come over real close and I couldn't help but hiss and back off. It was all so new and nothing I had experienced before. That night, Mama, Marie, me, and my new toy slept in one room. I hissed for a while, but by morning, I figured it all out. My fluffy toy was a miniature ME. I licked her ears, back, and tail. I just had to lay my paw on her back and she was all mine. She sometimes made a little squeal and started playing the hiding game again, but then she would come back. I think she liked me. It's been 3 days now and she has a name now. She's Coco. Mama says she's courageous like Coco Chanel and sweet as cocoa. I like her so much and hope she keeps playing games. I was getting a little tired of playing ball. I have a playmate!! So that's what's new - Coco, my girlfriend.

A dog named Blue
Here's "Blue" looking like he's in shock - has he never seen a tweet tweet before?
He's another new friend that I met through Saki, the crazy cat.
Blue is an actor, so maybe he's acting like he's scared because the bird is a zombie.
Animal movies are best appreciated by cool cats lazing around on sofas.
Hey Saki, pass me some more catnip, will ya?
